Centre for Human Settlements and Sustainable Developments (CHUSSDEV) is a Non-Governmental Institution registered in Nigeria in 2015 to intervene in the society especially in the area of Environment, Natural resources, Climate change and poverty alleviation with strong emphasis on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion. CHUSSDEV is also involved in capacity development of local and state officials towards inclusive and people oriented policies and legislation.

The Administration of CHUSSDEV is under the leadership of an Executive Director who is in charge of day to day running of all activities of the organisation. The policy direction of the organization is carried out by the Board of Governors who are Nigerians from different geopolitical zones in Nigeria and are people of proven integrity and impeccable character. The Head Office of CHUSSDEV is Currently located at N0 55 1 Q 2 Road FHA (CBN Quarters ) Airport Road Abuja. CHUSSDEV also has physical presence at GRA Osogbo, Osun State and Aminu Kano Cresent Wuse Abuja.

Since inception, CHUSSDEV has been engaged in vigorous pursuit of efficient and livable human living condition and Environmental sustainability, Climate change adaptation and mitigation, livelihood improvement and poverty alleviation for urban and rural residents. Specifically in the last eight years CHUSSDEV through the support of several local and international donors and partners intervened in the SDG 1,2,3 ,6 11 and 13. But particular emphases are placed on SDG Goal 1-No poverty, 3-Good health and Wellbeing, 5- Gender Equality, and goal 13: Climate actions and Goal 11- Sustainable Cities and Communities.

The mode of operation:

CHUSSDEV carries out regular intervention programme in Communities and cities. It also conduct researches about Environmental resilience, climate change adaptation urban dynamics, Governance and resilience. It promotes solutions and ideas that focus on improving living condition of local/indigenous people. These are carried out through the conduct of targeted Training, Workshops, seminars advocacy and policy engagement and other programmatic interventions.

Main Activities:

CHUSSDEV partners with public and private sectors for livelihood improvement through pragmatic solutions that addresses community poverty, environmental degradation and poor neighborhood, Youth unemployment Social Inclusion and Gender Equality. The activities of CHSSDEV include, women empowerment, slum upgrade, poverty alleviation, Skill enhancement and improving the productive capacity of the rural dwellers specifically targeting the youth and women.

Staffing and Funding:

CHUSSDEV is staffed by a host of technical and support staff, volunteers and consultants. The funding for CHUSSDEV activities is from Grants, donations, endowments and contribution by partners and trustees. A total of 75% of CHUSSDEV resources is spent on development intervention project, 10% is spent on office running and staff salary, 15% is spent on Policy direction and fund mobilization
