Background

Chussdev's background

The nature and effects of Climate change and anthropogenic activities on the Survival of our Planet have both programmatic and research implications in our world today. The impacts of human activities on the environment is directly hinged on the livelihood and the economic prosperity of most developing nations.  There is urgent need to eradicate poverty and promote prosperity in the Developing countries where the majority of the extremely poor people live.

In September 2015, the World General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that Include 17 sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The new agenda emphasis is holistic approach to achieving sustainable Development for all. While the world leaders recognized the contribution of the Non-Governmental organization (NGOs) as critical to the achievement of the SDG there was the need to streamline the activities of the NGO so that they can operate in the areas of comparative advantage. CHUSSDEV has comparative advantage in the area of evidenced based interventions in the area of Environment, Natural resources and climate change implications on rural and urban poverty. These have been the core of programmatic interventions of our work.

CHUSSDEV mission is to promote, evident-based programmatic intervention in capacity enhancement for policies that address the issues of climate change adaptation, youth health and wellbeing, community poverty, Gender inequality and social inclusion, Environmental Degradation in Urban areas and rural communities.

Centre for Human Settlements and Sustainable Developments (CHUSSDEV) is a Not for Profit Organization established in 2015 with the central pillars focus on SDG 11 Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Its activities also capture interventions in the SDG which include: Goal 1: No Poverty; Goal 3: Good Health and Well Being; Goal 5: Gender Equality; Goal 13: Climate Action.

These 5 goals are the thematic areas of operations of CHUSSDEV and have been the driving force of the organization since inception in 2015.

CHUSSDEV has contributed successfully to the society in these thematic areas in many states and local government areas in Nigeria.  It has also attracted and implemented grants from different national and international donors including Ford Foundations, SGP-GEF, UNDP and UNHabitat, DPR, NOSDRA  towards improving the society in these thematic areas of operations. CHUSSDEV is currently operating in 21 states in Nigeria and wish to expand our activities to other states. Specifically, It operates in cities and communities working with different stakeholders including rural women, youth, the vulnerable groups and critically poor people in the society to better their lives.
